The Primary Test

Recently, a young man contacted me through the internet, and asked me about my next book, and  wanted some pointers on how he could  beat drug addiction. I will be giving this young man some of my views on  drug addiction, and recovery in the next few blog posts.

First, I think it is important to establish a “global context” for the problem of drug addiction. A global context will allow us to see the big picture, and help us navigate through the maze of drug addiction.

When thinking of drug addiction what framework guides our thoughts? Do we see drug addiction as a disease? A biological phenomena? A neurological phenomena? What we believe drug addiction is, will influence how we attempt to overcome it.

Drug addiction, at its core, is a spiritual problem. And I do not use the word, “spiritual” as a concept tag, which points to principles that are beneficial for us, and our community. I use the word, “spiritual”as a tag that points to our ontology. In other words, for me, “spiritual” refers to our state of being, and the realm in which we have it.

The Scriptures point to the philosophy of substance dualism, and it is in this sense that I use the word, “spiritual”. There are two categories of “stuff” in the philosophy of substance dualism: Subjects and objects. We are a spirit (a subject), who lives in a body (an object).

The spiritual realm is the realm in which all subjects dwell. There are two camps in the spirit realm: Yahweh’s camp, and Satan’s camp. Without exception, every spirit dwells in one of these two camps.

The spirit realm is real. It is more real than the realm of objects, because the realm of objects (the physical universe) came out of the spirit realm, when Yahweh (the Subject) spoke it into being.

Thanks to Adam, we are all born in Satan’s camp. Our spirit man is a slave to Satan, and his demons. Thanks to Yeshua (Jesus), we can escape from Satan’s slave camp, and enter into Yahweh’s camp to live as kings and priests. This message is the essence of the gospel.

The spirit realm and the physical realm converge in order to fashion the human body, and the human soul. The spirit man lives in this body, and functions in the physical realm through this soul.

Yahweh puts every human spirit in a body, which is confined within the physical universe in order to test it, and refine it. Currently, we are all in Yahweh’s testing, and refinement arena. Yahweh is testing each one of us to see if we will choose to follow Him, and submit to His refinement process, or choose to remain in Satan’s camp.

Our primary spiritual problem is that we have not submitted to Yeshua, and allowed Him to remove us from Satan’s camp. Hence, we continue to do Satan’s will: We love the world, build up our pride, please our physical bodies, and feed our eyes what they crave.

If, when we hear the gospel of the Kingdom of Yahweh, we submit to Yahweh’s King (Yeshua), His Spirit comes to live in our earthly body with us. When Yeshua’s Spirit joins Himself with our human spirit, He removes us from Satan’s kingdom (camp), and places us in His Kingdom (camp). If we do this we have passed the primary test.

Yahweh gives us all the opportunity to submit to King Yeshua, and if we do not submit to Him, before we leave our physical body, and the arena of testing, we will remain in Satan’s camp forever. And, this is real bad, because Satan has made his camp in the depths of Hell!

Passing Yahweh’s primary test is the most important thing in life.

Passing Yahweh’s primary test is also the first step in recovering from drug addiction. When Yahweh removes us from Satan’s camp, He recreates our spirit, and gives it the desire to please Him. This intense desire to please Yahweh, and live according to His instructions is the hallmark of a Christian, and it is the force that keeps him or her striving towards the goal of His high calling.

When Yahweh removes us from Satan’s camp, some of us, leave drug addiction behind, and never return. These “lucky” people get delivered immediately. The rest of us “poor souls” have to submit to the painful refining process, and grow out of drug addiction.

Why does Yahweh deliver some from drug addiction immediately, and walks with others, and grows them out of drug addiction, over time? It’s because Yahweh has an eternal assignment for each of us, and He knows which refinement process will equip us to fulfill it.

In the posts that follow, we will examine the refinement process, and how we can cooperate with it in order to overcome drug addiction. The refinement process is the secondary test, and our eternal rewards depend on how we perform in this phase of our testing.

Don’t be ignorant of Satan’s devices; he uses deception to keep us in his camp, or keep us living in bondage even though we have escaped from his camp. A strong deception of our day is this: Satan offers a refinement process, which promises freedom from addiction. And Satan has clothed his program in God garb to make it look Godly.

Of course, I am talking about A.A., and N.A. These programs consist of a set of “spiritual principles”, which are beneficial to you and your community. If you live by these principles, you may indeed overcome drug addiction, but you will nevertheless, remain in Satan’s camp.

A.A. makes the same mistake that the religious people made in Yeshua’s day. In Yeshua’s day, the Jewish leaders placed Moses ahead of Abraham, and tried to know Yahweh through their works. Paul told these men that they had to submit to Yeshua to know Yahweh, and enter His Kingdom. The same is true for A.A. members.

A.A. without Yeshua is a ticket to Hell.

A.A. with Yeshua is just another form of bondage.

Don’t be deceived. Refining yourself with a set of spiritual principles will not bring you into Yahweh’s Kingdom so that you can know Him. There is only one way into Yahweh’s Kingdom, and only one way to know Him. This is the way: We must pass the primary test.

Doctrine Divides

There is a great gulf between ontology and epistemology, that is, there is a great gulf between what is, and our knowledge of what is. Our senses are not acute enough to examine reality on a subatomic level, nor are they expansive enough to examine reality on a universal level. We have instruments that allow us to peer into these domains, but these instruments are very limited.

Moreover, no one witnessed the creation of the universe, and lived to our day. Consequently, no one can really speak authoritatively about the forces that created the universe, and the complex processes that shaped the reality that we see today.

This situation is further complicated by the fact that our mind works as a context machine. Our mind takes all the inputs that come into it, and attempts to arrange these inputs within a global context, in order to extract meaning from the universe. This is problematic, because a global context has to have fixed datum points it can reference all these inputs to, in order to find a place for those inputs. In other words, our reasoning depends on presuppositions, assumptions, and beliefs to function properly.

No two people have the same presuppositions, assumptions, and beliefs, which is why no two people see reality in the exact same way. This is also why two people can look at the same evidence, and come up with different deductions and inferences, which lead to different conclusions about reality. When two people reach different conclusions about the nature of reality, it does not necessarily mean that one person is logical, and one is illogical, or one is scientific, and one is religious. Usually, the logic that takes people from their deductions and inferences to their conclusions is not the problem. More often, the problem is the presuppositions, assumptions, and beliefs that a person starts with.

Is there anything that can bridge the great gulf that separates what is, and our knowledge of what is? Yes. Divine revelation. Yahweh knows how energy pools and combines to become the subatomic particles that make up matter. Yahweh also knows how the universe operates as a whole. Moreover, Yahweh created the universe, and lives until this very day. This means that Yahweh has no need of presuppositions, assumptions or beliefs, which means that His thoughts are higher than ours. And fortunately, Yahweh’s Spirit implanted His thoughts in the minds of the Apostles and Prophets and they wrote them on scrolls.

The Scriptures are Yahweh’s thoughts. Yah’s thoughts reveal the true nature of reality, and its origin. As we study the Scriptures, we discover veins of truth. We call these veins of truth, doctrines. The Greek word that we translate into doctrine is “didache”. This word means, teachings, or what is taught (by Yahweh through His Apostles and Prophets). Yahweh’s doctrines are very important to Him, and they should be very important to us.

Think about it. Biblical Doctrines are the thoughts of Yahweh, and He is our Creator. It should go with out saying, that we should respect, revere, love, share, teach and defend Biblical doctrines. Biblical doctrines form a bridge that spans the dark pit between what is, and our knowledge of what is. The only way we can safely traverse across the dark pit that separates reality, from our knowledge of it, is by traveling across the bridge of Biblical doctrine. If we deviate from Biblical doctrine, we will be in danger of falling off the bridge, into the bottomless pit.

When we learn, and stand upon Biblical doctrines, we can rest assured that we are rightly relating to Yahweh, through His Son, Yeshua, so that the Holy Spirit can bring His will to pass in our lives. However, when we reject, ridicule, or ignore Biblical doctrine, and stand on the doctrines of men, we cannot be sure what entity is working on our behalf in order to bring its will to pass in our lives, because we have fallen into the dark pit, and are rejecting, ridiculing, or ignoring the light.

It is dangerous to name the name of Yeshua, and not live by Biblical doctrine. Why? Well, because you may be putting your trust in a Yeshua, who is really a demon pretending to be the Son of Yahweh. Paul warned us about this in 2 Corinthians 11:4. So how do we know if we are following Yeshua, the Son of Yahweh, and not a demon, who pretends to be Yeshua, the Son of Yahweh?

The answer to this question should be obvious at this point. We must put our trust in, and live according to sound Biblical doctrine. Specifically, the doctrine of the Messiah. What is the doctrine of the Messiah? It is the teaching that Yeshua from Nazareth was crucified for our sins, and raised from the dead 3 days later. If you believe this, and call upon (put your absolute trust in Him and His finished work), and confess Him as Lord (repent and surrender to His will), you will be saved.

The doctrine of the Messiah is not hard to understand, it is simple. And according to 2 John 1:9, whoever tries to know Yahweh without living out the doctrine of the Messiah, does not know Him. And if a person does not know Yahweh, or His Messiah, this person does not have eternal life. (John 17:3) This is exactly why Paul told Timothy that the doctrine (of the Messiah) saves him and all those who hear (act upon) his preaching of the doctrine (of the Messiah). (1 Timothy 4:16)

Sound Biblical doctrine is very important. What qualifies as sound Biblical doctrine? Sound Biblical doctrines are clearly outlined in the Scriptures. A person does not need a doctors degree in theology to understand sound Biblical doctrine. A person does have to labor in the Word and doctrine, however. (1 Timothy 5:17) Moreover, Yahweh expects us to study the Word and handle it properly (2 Timothy 2:15), and avoid the people who do not handle it properly. (Romans 16:17)

Yahweh expects us to learn Biblical doctrine, and live by it. Yahweh does not want us to be tricked and manipulated by people who twist the Scriptures in order to fulfill their own lusts for fame and fortune.Yahweh loves us and does not want us to live unstable lives putting our hopes in every unbiblical doctrine that deceitful men craft. (2 Timothy 4:3; Ephesians 4:14; 2 Corinthians 2:17, 4:2; 2 Peter 2:3 )

The next qualification for sound Biblical doctrine is obvious, or at least, it should be. Sound Biblical doctrine must be the clear teachings of the Bible. The leaders of the early Church, as they were led by the Holy Spirit, decided on which writings to include in the cannon of Scripture, and which writings to exclude from it. By 100 A.D., the Church had already decided on the cannon, so any writings that originated after that time do not qualify as Scripture, or Biblical doctrine. And if any doctrine is not biblical, we are not to put our trust in it and live by it.

This is why Jude, the half brother of Yeshua, said that we should earnestly contend for the faith, which was once delivered unto the saints. (Jude 1:3) In this verse, the Greek word for “contend” means to fight for or struggle for. In this verse, the Greek word “hapax” is translated into English as “once”, which means once and for all time. In this verse, the phrase “the faith” means the doctrine of the Messiah. So, in essence, Jude tells us to fight for the doctrine of the Messiah, which was handed down to us from the Apostles and Prophets prior to 100 A.D. via Scripture.

The doctrine of the Messiah is the most important doctrine in the Bible. The doctrine of the Messiah is not hard to understand. Believing this doctrine, and putting your trust in Yeshua, and His finished work, will cause you to know Yahweh. Rejecting this doctrine, and refusing to put your trust in Yeshua, and His finished work, will keep you separated from Yahweh. It’s scary, but your stance on this doctrine will either save you, or damn you!

Any doctrine that requires anything above and beyond the finished work of the Messiah to save you, is a perverted doctrine of man and devils. Salvation is Yahweh’s gift, so no man can brag about earning it. (Ephesians 2:8; Romans 4:16)

The Catholic Church teaches that no one is saved outside of it’s doors.

The Mormon Church teaches that an angel named Moroni appeared to Joseph Smith, and gave him gold tablets, which became an auxiliary to the Bible (Scripture). Later, Peter, James and John appeared, and conveyed the Melchizedek Priesthood on him. Smith passed this priesthood to the leaders of the Mormon Church, and they outlined the works that people must do in order to partake of their messiah’s sacrifice. The Mormons (named after the angel of light, Moroni) put their trust in the teachings of Joseph Smith, Brigham Young and the other elders, which were written in the 19th Century.

Clearly, these are doctrines of men and devils.

The Jehovah Witnesses teach that their Watchtower Elders are they only ones who can interpret Scripture. The Watchtower Elders translated the Scriptures into their own version that supports their theology. The Watchtower Elders outline the works that a person must do in order to be saved.

Alcoholics Anonymous says you can know Yahweh without believing the Doctrine of the Messiah, and trusting in His finished work. They say you can know God (Yahweh) by working the 12 Steps, which Bill Wilson wrote in the 20th Century.

Clearly, these are also doctrines of devils.

The Yeshua that the Catholics, Mormons, and Jehovah Witnesses teach about is not the Yeshua of the Scriptures. This means that these people think that they are serving Yeshua, but, in reality, they are serving a demon. This demon is working in their lives to bring about it’s will for their lives, which is to keep them in the dark separated from the light of the doctrine of the Messiah.

These precious people swear up and down that they are serving Yeshua, and think that you have lost your mind when you tell them they are really serving a demon. They will not understand that demons and fallen angels can work lying signs and wonders and can bring what we believe to be blessings into our lives. They will not grasp the fact that these supernatural entities do these things in order to deceive you into believing that you are serving Yeshua, when you are not.

Why are these people in the dark? They are in the dark because they have gotten off the bridge of Biblical doctrine and fallen into the dark bottomless pit of reality, where supernatural entities, natural laws, psychological principles, and societal forces are at work to change their lives. Tragically, they attribute the changes in their lives to Yeshua, and interpret “His activity” in their lives as an indication of His approval. Consequently, these people do not fear damnation and eternal death.

The same thing goes for the people in Alcoholics Anonymous. Most of these people, take great pride in rejecting sound Biblical doctrine because it is intolerant. Most of these people say that Biblical doctrines divide people, and exclude people. And since our Creator loves everybody, everybody should be included in the fellowship so that they can come to know Him. How will they come to know Yahweh without believing the doctrine of the Messiah, and submitting to Him? Well, by working the 12 Steps of course. No, this is a doctrine of devils!

The people in A.A. talk about Yahweh working in their lives to keep them sober. But since they have rejected the doctrine of the Messiah, they are in the dark pit of reality. In this dark pit supernatural entities, natural laws, psychological principles, and societal forces are at work to keep them sober.

Tragically, these people assume that Yahweh is keeping them sober, when He is not. These precious people interpet “God’s activity” in their lives as a sign that He approves of their lives, and the doctrines of Alcoholics Anonymous. Consequently, these people do not fear damnation and eternal death.

The people in A.A. do not understand that what you choose to believe will inspire you to label the reality that is at work in your life. The people in A.A. are right about one thing, however. They are right about doctrine dividing people.

Doctrine divides those who know Yahweh from those who do not. Doctrine divides those who serve Yahweh from those who think they serve Him. Doctrine divides those who will spend eternity with Yahweh from those who will spend eternity with Satan. Doctrine divides because that is what Yahweh designed it to do.

If you think that this is harsh, then what about this? Yeshua said that He did come so that we could all get along, He came with a sword to divide us. (Matthew 10:34)

And what about 2 John 1:10? This Scripture says if a person does not teach the doctrine of the Messiah (and teaches doctrines of men and devils), we should not let him in our home. Moreover, this Scripture says that we are not even to wish him well, unless we want to partake of his sin!

Why would Yahweh want to divide us?

Yahweh is separating His sheep from the rebellious goats.

What brings about this division?

Well, Doctrine Divides.

Kiss the Frog (Part 2)

The Way Out

Is there a way out of addiction? Yes! Sanctification is the way out. The word “sanctification” means to be set apart, or to be made holy. So, what do we need to be set apart from? (1.) Our spirit needs to be set apart from the Devil’s kingdom. (2.) Our soul (our thoughts, imaginations and emotions) needs to be set apart from Satan’s kingdom. (3.) Our behavior needs to be set apart from Satan’s kingdom.

How can we set our spirit apart from Satan’s kingdom? Our spirit is not able to overpower Satan, and he is not willing to release us from his spiritual kingdom. There is nothing that we can do; our spirit is trapped in Satan’s spiritual kingdom.

Thankfully, Yahweh sent His Son Yeshua to rescue us from Satan’s spiritual kingdom and place us in His Spiritual Kingdom! (save us!) When we hear the Gospel, which is the Good News that Yeshua shed His blood to ransom us out of Satan’s kingdom, and we bow to Him as Lord, His Spirit indwells us. As Yeshua’s Spirit indwells us, He removes our spirit from Satan’s spiritual kingdom, and places us in His Spiritual Kingdom, by establishing it in us.

Through the agency of the indwelling Holy Spirit, Yahweh gives us power so that we can stop our soul and body from acting like Satan. The Holy Spirit leads us and guides us in order to sanctify our soul and body. The Holy Spirit produces the fruit of His character in our lives to sanctify our soul and body. The Holy Spirit gives us understanding of His Word to sanctify our soul and body. The Holy Spirit gives gifts to people through us in order to build their faith and sanctify their spirit, soul and body. And in the process of giving these gifts to other people, our faith is built up so that we can sanctify our soul and body.

So here’s the bottom line. The process of sanctification begins in the spirit realm. More specifically, the process of sanctification begins when we bow to Yeshua, and His blood ransoms our spirit out of Satan’s spiritual kingdom, and His Spirit establishes Yahweh’s Spiritual Kingdom in us! This is where recovery begins.

Choose Your Path

The Scriptures say that Yahweh sanctifies our spirit via the Cross, and the Blood. Then, Yahweh connects our sanctified spirit to His Spirit and Word, which supply the power and direction that we need in order to sanctify our soul and body.

As we study and meditate on Yahweh’s Word, we change the way we think. We begin to think more like Yahweh, and less like Satan. We use our new reasoning abilities to cast down every argument, imagination, and emotion that does not line up with Yahweh’s Word. We also yield to the Holy Spirit, and let Him lead us.

Paul called this process the re-newing of the mind. Paul said that a believer was transformed by the re-newing of his mind. When Yahweh regenerated our spirit, and delivered it from Satan’s kingdom, that was an ontological transformation. When we cooperate with the Spirit and the Word, and allow them to re-new our mind, that is an experiential transformation. This sets our soul apart from Satan’s kingdom. Then, our soul has a new agenda that sets our body apart from Satan’s kingdom. In other words, our renewed soul changes our bodily behavior.

Yahweh’s recovery plan is spiritual sanctification that works itself out in our lives as we re-new our minds. It should not surprise us to learn that the Counterfeiter has put together a recovery plan that is also based on spiritual sanctification.

Essentially, A.A. says we can practice a set of spiritual (moral/ethical) principles, in all our affairs, and sanctify ourselves. The first three Steps, and their underlying spiritual principles, mimic the work of the Cross and the Blood of Yeshua. The first three Steps position a person to receive power and direction from a Power greater than himself (presumably his Creator), so he can work the remaining steps.

It is not possible, however, for a person to connect with Yahweh without going through His Son’s bloodstained Cross. Thus, Yahweh does not remove the person, who works the first three Steps from Satan’s spiritual kingdom, and put him in His Spiritual Kingdom. Hence, the person is not sanctified spiritually.

Since the first three Steps do not remove a person from Satan’s spiritual kingdom, and place him in Yahweh’s Spiritual Kingdom, he does not have fellowship with Yahweh. This person thinks that he is walking hand-in-hand with his Creator, but since he has rejected Yahweh’s revelation, The Master Deceiver is deceiving him.

Spiritual principles are attitudes and actions that nourish our immaterial part (spirit). Spiritual principles are closely related to moral and ethical principles. “Moral” refers to “right behavior”. “Ethical” refers to “a standard” of right behavior.

Hence, when we live by spiritual/moral/ethical principles, our conscience does not condemn us, and we don’t feel the guilt and shame that come from thinking and living wrong. The Deceiver knows that when our conscience is quiet, it is easy for him to deceive us into believing that we are right with our Creator.

Since moral behaviors and ethical standards are tied to religious doctrines, A.A. uses the term, “spiritual” principles. As the story goes, spiritual principles do not come from religious doctrines, they come from the nature of the universe. And there are attitudes and actions that bring us into unity with “God,” others and our true-self, and there are attitudes and actions that separate us from “God,” others and our true-self. Supposedly, dysfunction (addiction) is the result of violating life’s spiritual principles, and the solution to dysfunction (addiction) is adhering to them.

This is one version of A.A.’s spiritual (moral/ethical) principles.

Step 1: Honesty
Step 2: Faith
Step 3: Surrender
Step 4: Soul Searching
Step 5: Integrity
Step 6: Acceptance
Step 7: Humility
Step 8: Willingness
Step 9: Forgiveness
Step 10: Maintenance
Step 11: Making Contact
Step 12: Service

Practicing A.A.’s 12 spiritual principles, in all your affairs, will change the way you think, which will change the way you act. So, practicing A.A.’s spiritual principles will sanctify your soul and body…but they will not sanctify your soul or body, unto Yahweh. Practicing these spiritual principles may mimic Yahweh’s sanctification by correcting a dysfunction in your life, but they will not make you right with Him. Practicing these spiritual principles may even lead to spiritual experiences that make you aware of the spirit realm, but they will not awaken you to Yahweh.

The objectives of Yahweh’s plan, and the objectives of Satan’s plan are identical. The mechanisms that bring about the objectives in Yahweh’s plan are identical to the mechanisms that bring about the objectives in Satan’s plan. However, the power source that drives the mechanisms in Yahweh’s plan is the polar opposite of the power source that drives the mechanisms in Satan’s plan. This is the problem.

Since the objectives and mechanisms of Satan’s recovery plan are identical to the objectives and mechanisms of Yahweh’s recovery plan, some people think the recovery plans are identical. They are not! The power and information source that drives the mechanisms in the two plans are very different. Why does this matter? It matters because power and information come from relationship, and there is only one way to establish a relationship with Yahweh! You must go to the Cross!

Some people say that we don’t have to travel down the “Roman Road” in order to submit to Yahweh. These people say that they can submit to Yahweh by working the 3rd Step (surrendering their will and life to a God of their own understanding.) These people are denying Yahweh’s revelation, and His Son’s finished work on the Cross. These people are preaching “another Gospel”. And when they preach Jesus in this other Gospel, they are preaching “another Jesus”. Run from these people!

These people say that the only thing that differs between Yahweh’s recovery plan and A.A.’s recovery plan is terminology. These people say that they can use the terminology that they want to use to submit to God, and you can use the terminology that you want to use to submit to God. The only thing that is really important is that we submit to God, and we all do that differently. This is wrong! If you do not submit to God, the way He said to submit to Him (through His Son’s bloodstained Cross), then you will submit to someone other than God.

Some things Never Change

In the beginning, the wise old Serpent promised that we could be like Yahweh by knowing right and wrong. That is, the crafty Serpent said that we did not have to submit to Yahweh’s revelation, and promised that we could create a more pleasing reality by practicing a set of moral/ethical/spiritual principles. The Serpent lied.

The Serpent has not changed his tactics. Through A.A., the Serpent says that we do not have to submit to Yahweh’s revelation, and promises that we can recover by practicing a set of moral/ethical/ spiritual principles. The Serpent is still lying.

The lies of the Serpent are subtle. The Serpent counterfeits the works of Yahweh. This is why the counterfeit recovery program just sounds like a less threatening, or a modernized politically-correct version of Yahweh’s recovery plan. It is not!

The counterfeit recovery program is carefully crafted. It uses some of the terms and concepts that are in Yahweh’s plan. The Serpent knew that if his plan looked very different from Yahweh’s, he would have a hard time getting you to accept it.

For the sake of contrast, let’s say that the Serpent’s plan instructed you to kiss a frog, so that it would turn into a savior, who would deliver you from addiction. In this outlandish hypothetical scenario, you would probably realize, very quickly, that Yahweh’s plan was a viable plan, and the Serpent’s plan was a fairy tale.

This is exactly why the Serpent made his recovery plan look like Yahweh’s. And to sweeten the mixture, the Serpent used earthy concepts that appeal to the natural mind. Then, the Serpent put the icing on the cake, by eliminating the specificity that Yahweh built into His recovery plan, in order to make it all-inclusive.

The Serpent’s frosted cake appeals to fallen people with natural minds. The sad thing is that the Serpent’s sweet-cake does not impart any of the spiritual blessings that Yahweh’s Heavenly Manna does. And the saddest thing of all is that after a person eats the Serpent’s sweet-cake, he views Yahweh’s plan as a fairy tale.

In Yahweh’s recovery plan, He sanctifies our spirit, soul and body. Yahweh recreates us as a new creature, and gives us new desires that please Him.

In Satan’s recovery plan, we attempt to sanctify our spirit, soul and body. We do the religious things that A.A. prescribes in order to subdue our fallen nature, and change our desires.

It is our choice.

We can work Yahweh’s recovery plan; or, we can kiss the frog.
