Kiss the Frog (Part 1)

In 1 Thessalonians 5:23, Paul wrote, “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

What is man? Well, according to Yahweh, Who inspired Paul, man is comprised of spirit, soul and body. These three “parts” are not discrete, divisible subunits; they are integrated, indivisible subunits, which interact to comprise the whole man.

A man’s spirit connects him to the spirit realm. A man’s body connects him to the earth realm. A man’s soul connects his spirit to his body. This means that a man’s soul manifests the spirit realm in the earth realm.

There are two kingdoms in the spirit realm: Yahweh’s kingdom and Satan’s kingdom. A man’s soul works in conjunction with his body in order to manifest a spiritual kingdom on the earth. The spiritual kingdom that a man’s soul and body will manifest on the earth, depends on which spiritual kingdom his spirit resides in.

Since we are all born into Satan’s spiritual kingdom, it is natural and normal for us to manifest Satan’s spiritual kingdom on the earth. This is why Satan’s kingdom currently rules over the earth and its inhabitants. This is why no one has to teach us to be selfish, lustful, greedy, unruly, rebellious, power-hungry liars. It is why no one has to teach us to manipulate circumstances and people. And it is why no one has to teach us to seek pleasure and run over those who try to restrain us; that is, this is why no one has to teach us how to become addicted to alcohol or drugs.

The First Addict

Yahweh created Lucifer, and put him in His Kingdom. The reality Yahweh put Lucifer in was unacceptable to him, however. Lucifer rebelled against Yahweh’s authority, and tried to reshape his reality. Yah put Lucifer in that reality, so he would grow and fulfill his eternal purpose, but he refused to cooperate. Lucifer lifted himself up, and conspired with other angels to overthrow Yahweh.

Lucifer got a taste of power and worship, and it gave him a rush. After this initial rush, Lucifer continued with his plan to overthrow Yahweh, in spite of the risks. Lucifer had to know that eventually the all-knowing, all-powerful Yahweh would discover his plan, and punish him, but nevertheless, he continued down this destructive path, deceiving himself in order to get more pleasurable rushes.

Lucifer is an addict. Lucifer is hooked on worship, and power. Lucifer rules the kings and kingdoms of the earth, and receives worship from all those he deceives. Lucifer knows that one-day Yahweh will banish him in the fiery lake, but he will not repent because he likes the pleasurable power rushes. Sadly, Lucifer is trading his long-term welfare for short-term rewards, which is what addicts do.

Yahweh put Lucifer in a place of authority. Lucifer guarded Yahweh’s throne. Yahweh built Lucifer with mechanisms that gave him pleasure when he exercised his authority, and fulfilled his purpose. Yahweh set boundaries for Lucifer’s authority, however. Lucifer stepped over the boundaries that Yahweh erected, and abused his pleasure mechanisms, and they enslaved him.

Like Father, Like Son

Yahweh created man with a brain/body complex that gave him pleasure whenever he engaged in activities that promoted his survival. Activities like eating, drinking, and having sex, triggers the release of chemicals in the brain/body complex. As these chemicals (neurotransmitters, neuromodulators and hormones) circulate in the bloodstream, they bind to sights throughout the brain/body complex, which release secondary chemicals and generate electrical impulses. The secondary chemical messengers open up specific pathways for the electrical impulses.

Man perceives the flow of this chemical and electrical energy, and “experiences” it. The flow of chemical and electrical energy does not produce pleasure, in and of itself. The pleasure is generated as our spirit (our immaterial subject component) experiences the flow of chemical and electrical energy through our brain/body complex (our material object component). Why do we perceive pleasure? For the same reason we perceive red. We perceive the color red, and the sensation of pleasure, because we are immaterial subjects interacting with material objects.

The experience of perceiving the color red or the sensation of pleasure cannot be reduced down to biology or physics because they are subjective experiences; that is, they are the ontological activities of a subject interacting with a universe of objects. It is not the flow of dopamine through the brain’s mesolimbic system (reward center) that generates pleasure; it is the spirit experiencing the flow of dopamine through the mesolimbic system that produces pleasure. As our spirit enters the “pleasure state,” this shift triggers the release of chemical and electrical energies that trigger physiological processes to manifest pleasure in our body.

Yahweh created us with a reward center in our brain that is automatically triggered by a range of very specific behaviors. Since pleasure is a subjective experience, however, we have the leeway to value, interpret and define pleasure for ourselves. This is why I may derive an enormous amount of pleasure from an activity that you derive little or no pleasure from, or find repulsive. This is also how people get addicted to strange things like eating cigarette butts or bathing in bleach.

Yahweh set boundaries for the activities that give man pleasure, and when a man steps over these boundaries, he opens himself up to the possibility of enslavement to these feelings; that is, he opens himself up to the possibility of becoming addicted to the activities that produce these pleasurable feelings.

Since we were all born into a fallen world that is filled with fallen people, often, our reality is not what we want it to be. And since we abide in Satan’s kingdom, as his children, many of us attempt to change reality (the reality that we experience). We drink alcohol or use drugs to trigger our brain’s reward center, and experience pleasurable feelings, or change the interaction of our brain modules in order to produce an altered state of consciousness that is more acceptable to us.

As we ingest chemicals to trigger our brain’s reward center, or a change in consciousness, we create an altered reality that is more pleasing to us. This is how we escape from the reality that Yahweh has placed us in. But here’s the problem: Yahweh placed us in a reality of His choosing that would force us to confront the issues in us and grow into our eternal purpose. So when we attempt to change reality by ingesting chemicals, we circumvent Yahweh’s plan for our eternal well-being. We rebel against Yahweh, and commit the sin of witchcraft.

When we repeatedly enter the reality that we create by ingesting a chemical, at some point, this altered reality becomes the only reality that we are comfortable in. So, we devote ourselves to the chemical that produces this altered reality. Our spirit-man bows down to the chemical, and devotes itself to it, and this sets into motion a spiritual-psychological-biological process that takes away our heart.

Here’s what I mean.

Over time, the chemical saturates our body and sets up a homeostatic imbalance, which pushes us towards the chemical (a compulsion). Then, we get accustomed to living in the altered reality, and so we disconnect from Yahweh’s reality. Soon, we begin to merely react to the reality that Yahweh created and manipulate it in order to support the reality that we created. The two conflicting realities create crises that we must defuse. Our new lifestyle rewires our brain, and generates psychological forces that drive us towards the goal of sustaining our altered reality (an obsession). These spiritual, psychological and biological forces interact and form a strong bondage (an addiction).

After an addiction forms, its spiritual, psychological and biological forces exert a tremendous amount of pressure on our heart. This is very important because our decisions flow from our heart. The spiritual, psychological and biological forces that we set up, by our own actions, which we freely chose, now hold tremendous sway over all our future decisions. From this point forward, we tend to make decisions that support and sustain our altered reality. Often, these decisions bring us into conflict with Yahweh’s reality, and generate negative consequences for us.

Even though we know full well that a decision will bring us into conflict with Yahweh’s reality, and hurt us, or our loved ones, we will proceed with it in order to support and sustain our altered reality. Following in Lucifer’s footsteps, we make irrational decisions, and trade our long-term welfare for short-term reward.

You must be Born from Above

In John 3, Yeshua (Jesus) told Nicodemus that he must be born from above (born-again) in order to see the Kingdom of God (Yahweh). That is, Yeshua said that if Nicodemus really wanted to enter Yahweh’s Kingdom, and experience it in his daily life, here on the earth (see it in operation), he had to be born from above.

Nicodemus lived in Israel, which was the Kingdom of Yahweh operating on the earth. The problem with this arrangement was that fallen men governed the earthly Kingdom of Yahweh, and made up their own rules and regulations in order to exalt and enrich themselves. And Nicodemus was one of these fallen men.

Nicodemus’ man-made religion, which was a perverted form of the Abrahamic faith, deceived him into believing he was already in Yahweh’s Kingdom, but he was not. Nicodemus was a citizen of the Devil’s kingdom, and he was Hell bound.

Nicodemus sought God, as he understood Him, but the problem was that he did not understand Yahweh and what He required. Nicodemus surrendered his will and life to God as he understood Him. He prayed, and meditated. He did a lot of religious things. Nicodemus even did a lot of good things that helped other people.

Doing religious things and helping others did not make Nicodemus right with Yahweh, however. The only thing that Nicodemus could have done to please Yahweh, and be right with Him was to believe Him, and act on what he believed.

So why did Yeshua tell Nicodemus that he had to be born from above in order to see Yahweh’s Kingdom? Well, to under this, we have to go back to the garden.

Yahweh created the animals. Then, Yahweh created Adam and breathed the breath of life into him. This means that Yahweh put His Spirit in Adam. This means that Adam was in a class of his own, he was above the animals because his spirit was infused with Yahweh’s Spirit. Adam reflected the image of Yahweh, and hence, Adam had the capacity to fellowship with Yahweh in a meaningful way.

Yahweh placed Adam in the Garden of Eden, which was His earthly Kingdom. Yahweh presented Adam with a choice. Adam could choose to manifest Yahweh’s will and life on the earth (eat of the Tree of Life), or manifest the Serpent’s will and life on the earth (eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil).

Unfortunately, Adam choose to manifest the Serpent’s will and life on the earth.

As Adam made this choice, his spirit disconnected from Yahweh’s spirit, and the spirit of disobedience (the Devil’s spirit), took him captive. After this, Yahweh honored Adam’s choice and kicked him out of His earthly Kingdom. Then, Adam took on the Devil’s nature, and began to build the Devil’s kingdom on the earth.

Yahweh assigned Cherubims with flaming swords to guard the Tree of Life, so that Adam could not eat of it. Why did Yahweh take such a drastic action? The Tree of Life would sanctify Adam perfectly and permanently, that is, it would enable him to perfectly manifest the will and life of Yahweh on the earth, but now that Adam had taken on the Devil’s nature, Yahweh could not allow him to eat of it, because he would possess two conflicting natures, and be unstable in all his ways.

Yahweh hates mixtures of holiness and wickedness. Yahweh would rather us be holy or wicked, instead of being lukewarm. Yahweh’s Spirit cannot mix with the Devil’s spirit and share the throne in a man’s body. No man can serve two masters, because one day he will hate one master, and love the other, and the next day, he will love the master that he hated, and hate the master that he loved. Hence, in order to restore a human being, Yahweh had to devise a way to legally evict the Devil’s spirit from a human being’s body so that His Spirit could move in to it.

Once Yahweh evicts the spirit of disobedience from a human body and His Spirit moves into it, He establishes His Kingdom in that human body. Since, Yahweh establishes His Kingdom inside a person, no religious ruler can control and manipulate that person and deprive him of the kingdom’s resources. All a believer has to do is to walk in the peace and joy that comes with the kingdom. Then, the believer needs to learn how to operate in the kingdom so that he can take possession of everything else that he needs to fulfill his kingdom purpose.

When we hear the Gospel and bow our knee to Yeshua, His Spirit comes to live in our body. Yeshua’s Spirit unites with our spirit, and we become one with Him. At that moment, everything Yeshua is, we are. Since Yeshua died on the execution stake, we died on the execution stake. That is, our old man, who was indwelt and driven by the spirit of disobedience, died on the execution stake with Yeshua. Since Yeshua was resurrected, we were resurrected. Since, Yeshua is righteous and holy, we are righteous and holy. This is what it means to be born from above.

We must be born from above before we can enter and experience the Kingdom of God. Why? Well, Yahweh’s Spirit has to legally (in accordance with man’s will) evict Satan’s spirit from man’s body so that He can establish His Kingdom in us. When we enter the Kingdom and experience its reality in our daily lives, we walk in peace and joy, and the Kingdom meets all of our need. When the reality that we experience on the earth doesn’t meet our expectations, and people hurt us or let us down, we don’t look to alcohol or drugs, we seek comfort from the Kingdom.

Real recovery begins when we leave Satan’s kingdom and enter Yahweh’s. Real recovery is entering the Kingdom of God and learning how to operate in it.

Nicodemus thought that he was in the Kingdom of God because his religion told him he was in it. In fact, Nicodemus was in the Devil’s kingdom, and being ruled by him. Like Nicodemus’ religion, A.A. tells people they can be right with God and have a relationship with Him by working the Steps. Like Nicodemus, the people in A.A. think they have entered God’s Kingdom, and are experiencing it in their lives.

Like Nicodemus, you can go to A.A., and seek a God of your own understanding. You can pray and mediate. You can do the religious works that A.A. demands. You can even help other people. Doing these things will not make you right with Yahweh, however. The only thing that will make you right with Yahweh is faith. Faith is believing and acting on Yahweh’s Word. Faith is being born from above.

Faith says that nothing can ransom you out of the Devil’s kingdom except the Blood of Yeshua. Faith says that nothing can bring you into Yahweh’s Kingdom except the Holy Spirit. Faith says that nothing can teach you how to operate in the Kingdom of Yahweh except the Holy Spirit and the Scriptures (the Word). Faith says that there is only one way to have a spiritual awakening and walk with God.

A.A.’s literature does not mention the Cross, or the Blood of Messiah. It mentions “the Spirit”, but this “Spirit” is not the Holy Spirit, it is the New Age “Spirit” that the philosophical fathers of A.A. (Carl Jung and William James) wrote about.

A few ecumenical “Christians” massaged A.A’s literature in order to give it a semi-Christian appearance that would appeal to Christians. Consequently, A.A.’s literature leads a person to believe that he or she can enter the Kingdom of God and operate in it (walk hand-in-hand with God), by working the 12 Steps and attending meetings to help others. A.A’s literature says we can work the 12 Steps and have a series of spiritual experiences that will result in a spiritual awakening.

Saying the 3rd Step prayer will not bring you into Yahweh’s Kingdom. Working the 12 Steps will not bring you into Yahweh’s Kingdom. Seeking a God of your own understanding and spiritual experiences, might awaken you to the fact that there is a spiritual realm, but it will not Breath Life into your spirit, and make you alive to Yahweh. Why? Because you are dead in your trespasses and sins.

Some people try to get around this unpleasant reality by saying, “Go to church to save your soul, come to A.A. to save your ass.” But here’s the problem with this saying. When you go to church and believe the Gospel, the Holy Spirit brings you into Yahweh’s Kingdom. If the Holy Spirit and the Kingdom are not able to save you from alcohol or drugs, what makes you think they can save you from Hell?

The people, who repeat this old saying in A.A. meetings, promote the idea that A.A. and the Church have two different non-overlapping teleological missions (two distinct objectives). The underlying philosophy is that the Church exists to save souls from Hell, and A.A./N.A. exists to save people from alcohol/drugs. This man-made philosophy sounds good, but it opposes the Scriptures.

The Scriptures teach that salvation is temporal and eternal. The Scriptures teach that Salvation is experienced in this life, before it is experienced in eternity. The Scriptures teach that temporal salvation is the evidence of eternal salvation. This is why the Scriptures tell us to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling.

Does Yahweh work through His Son’s Church to bring about eternal deliverance, but work through A.A. to bring about temporal deliverance? No! Yahweh works through His Son’s Church to bring about temporal and eternal salvation. So, is A.A. an extension and outreach of Yeshua’s Church? Certainly not! Is it possible for a person to obtain a narrow and very specific temporal deliverance in A.A.? Yes. Is it possible for a person to obtain eternal deliverance in A.A.? No.

So here’s the bottom line: A.A tries to make you comfortable in the Devil’s kingdom because it cannot take you out of it, and put you in Yahweh’s Kingdom.

Want to experience real recovery? You must be born from above.

Take your Pick

In 1 Timothy 6:20-21, Paul told Timothy to, “keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: Which some professing have erred concerning the faith.” In other words, Paul told Timothy to hold on to Scripture, and avoid the false science that opposes it, because some have embraced this false science and erred from the faith.

Our universe is enormous, and everything in it is complex. Science is the pursuit of knowledge about our universe through the collection of empirical evidence of energy and matter. Science observes how energy and matter interact, and boils these interactions down into laws, which are deterministic or probabilistic in nature.

We can visualize a deterministic law like this: When I throw a deck of cards into the air, they will fall to the ground–every time. We can visualize a probabilistic law like this: When I throw a deck of cards in the air some will land face up, and some will land face down, and it is possible to calculate the probability of x number of cards landing face up or face down.

Science does not end with the collection of empirical evidence, the formulation of laws, or the testing of laws in experiments.

No, this is the beginning of science.

Science advances through logical inference. A logical inference is a logical conclusion, explanation or judgment that is based on empirical evidence. There are two types of logical inferences: deductive and inductive. A deductive inference is a logical procession from the general to the specific, and an inductive inference is a logical procession from the specific to the general. A deductive inference can be proved to be right or wrong; however, an inductive inference cannot be proved to be right or wrong; hence, an inductive inference is said to be weak or strong.

Why is this important? It is important because the scientific models for the origin of the universe, the earth, the animals and us are based on inductive inferences that cannot be proved or disproved!

In our culture, scientists have a lot of authority. Scientists are respected because they have the intellectual resources that are needed to analyze empirical evidence and make logical inferences about reality. The problem is that our reality is a very big reality, and no one scientist can analyze it completely. At best, a scientist may become an expert in one or two fields, but there are thousands of other fields. This means that the world’s scientists must come together and paint a picture of reality for us non-scientists.

Here’s the problem with this: Where science ends, philosophy begins, and where philosophy ends theology begins. A person’s theology governs his philosophy, and a person’s philosophy guides the logical inferences that he or she makes about the empirical evidence that is collected from the universe.

Why is this a problem? It is a problem, because, in our day, a lot of scientists are atheists. Since these scientists have chosen to believe that God does not exist, they have adopted a philosophy called materialism. The philosophy of materialism excludes anything supernatural and includes only energy and matter as causal agents. These scientists focus on the empirical evidence that supports their belief (their theology) and make logical inferences that support their philosophy.

As a whole, the scientific community has agreed that God does not exist, and embraced materialism. The scientific community uses their logical inferences—that are based on their theology and philosophy—to paint a picture of a universe without God. The empirical evidence, and the methods of collecting it are too complex and technical for the public to understand. So the scientists filter the evidence, and collection methods through their theology and philosophy in order to come up with logical inferences that culminate in a model the public can understand.

Since the underlying “science” is so technical, the average person cannot sort through it to separate the empirical evidence from the biased theological and philosophical presuppositions, in order to formulate his or her own logical inferences and arrive at the truth. Consequently, the public simply accepts the scientists’ conclusions, because the scientists are a lot smarter than they are.

When the information that the scientists present to the public does not line up with the Scriptures, most Christians will reject it. Some misguided, but well-meaning Christians, will try to integrate this information into their understanding of the Scriptures by playing with words and their meanings. A few Christians, who do have scientific backgrounds, will sort through the information and separate the empirical evidence from the theological and philosophical presuppositions and arrive at the truth.

But any Christian Scientist, who dares to challenge the atheist scientists and their “public machine,” by examining the empirical evidence and offering logical inferences that point to God or the spirit realm is dismissed as an irrational “religious person.” These intellectual “dogs” are then thrown under the academic table where they have to wait for “crumbs of funding” to fall there way so they can support their position.

In sum, in the scientific community, believing in God and the supernatural realm is the “kiss of death”.

But, is it really irrational to believe what the Scriptures say about God and the supernatural realm? No, in fact, it is no more irrational than believing that there is no God or supernatural realm.

The scientific community looks at the expanding universe and infers that a big bang occurred billions of years ago and formed the universes. The scientific community says that the big bang formed the earth. The scientific community says that life emerged from energy and matter and differentiated, through the process of evolution, to create animals, and man is the highest animal. Can they prove that it happened this way? No. Can they collect empirical evidence and make logical inferences that support their position? Yes.

The Scriptures say that God spoke the universe into existence. The Scriptures say that God created the earth. The Scriptures say that God created the animals according to their kind, and formed man in His image. Can we prove that it happened this way? No. Can we collect empirical evidence and make logical inferences that support this position? Yes.

Invariably, when a Christian scientist says that God spoke the universe into existence, the secular scientist will ask where God came from, and what forces He used to create the universe. Of course, God did not come from anywhere, He has always existed, and He spoke the universe into existence. These are not scientific answers, however, and so the secular scientist charges the Christian scientist with the intellectual crime of invoking “God of the gaps” explanations to support his weak philosophical position.

Likewise, when the secular scientist says that a quantum fluctuation created “virtual particles”, which morphed into the elementary particles, and a super-dense point of these elementary particles exploded and formed all the matter in the universe, the Christian scientist may ask how the “virtual particles” that this energy flux produced endured long enough to morph into elementary particles? And exactly what forces morphed the short-life virtual particles into long-life elementary particles? Moreover, since space-time and the universal quantum field, which permeates it, did not exist prior to the Big Bang, how could there possibly have been a quantum fluctuation in space-time that produced the Big Bang?

The secular scientist may say that this universal quantum field did not come from anywhere, it has always existed. And some yet undiscovered forces acted on the virtual particles, and morphed them into elementary particles. These responses are not scientific, however, so the Christian scientist charges the secular scientist with the intellectual crime of invoking “naturalism of the gaps” or promissory materialism to support his weak philosophical position.

This same old intellectual dance is repeated over and over. The concepts are a little different when we debate the origin of earth, animals and man. In the end, however, science cannot settle origin questions. Here’s the bottom line: origin questions can only be answered by faith. The atheist chooses to believe that God does not exist, and puts his faith in quantum fluctuations. A Christian chooses to believe in God, and puts his faith in Him.

Science is unable to peek through the curtain (the Horizon), or analyze the conditions of mass, energy, time or gravity, as they approach it (the Singularity). Here’s the bottom line: We all have faith in something or Someone, and Who, or what we put our faith in is a matter of our heart, not our intellect. We see what we want to see, and our heart determines what we want to see.

A Christian has surrendered sovereignty over his heart, and life to Jesus. Hence, he wants to see God in His creation, because that validates the lifestyle he has chosen. In contrast, an atheist holds on to sovereignty over his heart, and runs his own life. Thus, he wants to see multiple universes in which there is no God because that validates the lifestyle he has chosen.

This is why we focus on the empirical evidence and logical inferences that support our worldview and minimize or reject those that do not. If we did not, we would be miserable because we would be living a conflicted life. Moreover, a Christian’s, faith would be ineffective because of their double-mindedness. (James 1:7) This is exactly why Paul told Timothy to hold to Scripture and avoid false science.

What is false science? Empirical evidence is evidence that we can perceive with our senses. This is not what Paul is calling false science. What Paul is calling false science is the logical inferences that unbelievers draw from the empirical evident, which do not line up with what the Scriptures say, because of the underlying theology and philosophy that the unbeliever has accepted as truth.

Contrary to what people claim, we are not witnessing a war between science and religion. We are witnessing a war between Yahweh’s Kingdom and the Kingdom of Darkness. We are witnessing a war between two supernatural kingdoms over the hearts of earthly men and women.

The war started in Eden when Eve put her faith in her senses and collected empirical evidence about the forbidden fruit and drew logical inferences that conflicted with God’s instructions (His Word.) The Serpent tricked Eve and she gave her heart to him and put her faith in his instructions, and Adam followed her so that he would not be alone.

What about you? Are you afraid of being alone? Are you afraid of being called an ignorant religious person and being kicked out of the scientific community?

The atheist has faith…faith in energy and matter, and that there is no God. A Christian has faith…faith that there is a God, and that He created the universe.

At the end of the day, it’s all about the heart, and the heart produces faith…..faith in our senses…..or faith in God…so when the Holy Spirit calls, take your pick.
